California Seeks Up To Ten-Billion Dollars Against Huge Insurance Company
(San Francisco, CA) -- The state of California is seeking up to ten billion dollars in fines against a huge insurance company. State Department of Insurance regulators accuse PacifiCare of nearly one-million state law violations between 2006 and 2008. The state alleges the company mishandled patient claims, lost patient documents, did not pay doctors and did nothing to fix the problems. The alleged violations occurred after UnitedHealth Group purchased PacifiCare in 2005 for nine-point-two-billion dollars. |
