Kids Still Need H1N1 Flu Vaccine This Year
(Cleveland, OH) -- Even though the H1N1 flu has dropped out of the news headlines, the virus is still in circulation. Dr. Johanna Goldfarb of the Cleveland Clinic says there are two ways to keep kids safe from infection. There is the traditional injection but there's also a nasal spray that Goldfarb says, quote, "is much nicer for kids." The American Academy of Pediatrics has changed its recommendation for children's vaccines this year, now that H1N1 is no longer considered a pandemic. Last year, the organization asked that kids to get two shots or two nasal sprays. This year, they need just one. If they weren't inoculated last year, kids will need a double dose this year. |
