House To Vote On 9-11 Health Bill
(Washington, DC) -- The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote today on a measure that would provide healthcare for first responders and recovery workers from the 9-11 attacks. The bill would cover long-term illnesses of thousands of first responders who became ill after working at Ground Zero, and would reopen the federal Victims Compensation Fund. The 9-11 James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act is named in honor of New York City Police Detective Zadroga, who is believed to be the first death linked to working in the debris and toxic dust at the World Trade Center site. He died in 2006. |
