Prendergast Library To Host Writer From Lakewood  |

Lakewood native and award-winning writer Paula Bosco Damon will speak at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Prendergast Library.
During her appearance in the Fireplace Room, the author will read selections from her collection Look Don t Look, many of which center on everyday life and her experiences growing up in the Jamestown area.
A 1970 graduate of Southwestern Central School, Ms. Damon is the daughter of the late Peter and Lillian Bosco.
She is currently director of marketing and communications at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, where she oversees marketing and communications for the university, including media relations, advertising and the Web. She holds a bachelors degree in mass communications and a masters degree in English from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion.
A longtime resident of South Dakota, Ms. Damon recently earned First Place in the 2009 and 2010 South Dakota Press Women Communications Contest. The writer s winning entries were selected from her weekly column, My Story Your Story, which appears in /The Vermillion (S.D.) Plain Talk. /Her works have also appeared in /The Sioux City Journal/, where she was a news reporter and columnist for many years.
In 1993, Ms. Damon won First Place nationwide in the NFPW Communications Contest and First Place statewide in Iowa Press Women Communications Contest. Previously, her writing earned numerous First Place awards in Iowa and South Dakota Press Women Communications Contests.
