| |
Summer reading club sign-ups begin Monday, June 21, at Prendergast Library in Jamestown.
The theme for children this year is Make a Splash Read!
A summer reading kick off celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, with Bruce Weaver and Friends.
Ventriloquism, magic, singing, laughs and surprises will be on the agenda, said Valle Blair, children s librarian.
Beginning the week of July 12, summer programs in the Children s Room will include:
- activities for Grade 5 and up at 2 p.m. Thursdays;
- Read Aloud for Grades 1-4 at 2 p.m. Tuesdays;
- Preschool Story Time at 10:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays;
- Toddler Story Time at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; and
- Great Beginnings Infant Story Time at 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
Children who read do better in school, Mrs. Blair said.
She encourages parents to get their children a library card, sign up for Summer Reading, and read together every day.
