GAHU Performing Arts and the Arts Council for Chautauqua County presents Universal Drum & Dance, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Reg Lenna Civic Center, 116 E. 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY. Workshop time: 3pm-5pm

Join Drummer T.R. McKotch and Dancer Nicole Ten Eyck for an afternoon of fun, high-energy drum & dance in this full-interactive drum & dance workshop. You will be immersed in many beautiful rhythms and dances from West Africa, Central Africa, Haiti, the Caribbean, and beyond. Some rhythms and dances explored include Fanga (Liberia), Kpanlogo (Ghana), Kpatsa (Ghana), Luba (Congo) and more.

T.R. McKotch is best known for his work with the Steve Johnson Band. McKotch toured extensively with the Steve Johnson Band playing many great venues including the Summer Wind Cruise on Chautauqua Lake, Great Blue Heron Music Festival, Chautauqua County Music Awards, and more.

Currently McKotch is drumming for Last Stop Willoughby, playing to a sold out crowd last fall at the Scharmann Theatre at Jamestown, Community College, as well as drumming for Dancer/Choreographer Nicole Ten Eyck for their Universal Drum & Dance Tour.

McKotch's recording credits include T.R. McKotch "Hand Drum Instructional Vol.1", GAHU Drum Ensemble "Live", and Steve Johnson Band "New Beginnings" CD's.

McKotch is an Infinity Performing Arts drum & percussion instructor, teaching artist for the Arts Council for Chautauqua County, private instructor at Chautauqua Music, and a drum workshop facilitator for GAHU Performing Arts.

Nicole Ten Eyck is a founding member of GAHU Performing Arts along with T.R. McKotch. She has over ten years of dance experience spanning many disciplines - from performing and choreographing to arts administration.

Ten Eyck is a former member of SANKOFA: African Dance & Drum Ensemble, The Kista Tucker Dance Company, JaxDance, RealDance, and former managing director Ellis Wood Dance in NYC.

Ms. Ten Eyck is an adjunct faculty at Jamestown Community College, Director of Dance at Infinity Performing Arts, instructor for the Arts Council for Chautauqua County, an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Zumba Instructor, and Production Director/Choreographer for the Scharmann Theatre in Jamestown, NY.
