Two Photographers To Exhibit At Prendergast

Work by Roger D. Roselli Jr. is titled  The Sport of Things,  while Robert  Knobby  Knobloch will show  Faces, Places & Personalities.
The two met almost 20 years ago while photographing the same events. They have become close friends and display their pictures together at The Coffee Cup, a restaurant on East Second Street in Jamestown where their colorful images add to the dicor.

There will be an opening reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, to meet the photographers and discuss their joint exhibit at the library.

Roselli is a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, where he enjoys many activities with family and friends.

Photography is a very big part of it, shooting many events over my 30-plus years with photos,  he said.

He enjoys taking images of his granddaughter, family events, nature and sporting events.

High school football is one of the things I enjoy most. The fall just makes me feel better, and the love for the sport is a big part of it,  he said.

The Sport of Things  will show some of his football images along with other sports shots he has taken over the past couple of years. His work is also available at www.imagemakerofswny.com, where people are encouraged to leave comments.

For his part of the library exhibit, Knobloch said,  I continue to record the  faces, places and personalities  I come in contact with through my travels. These photos invite the viewer to share a light-hearted moment with the subject, and to become part of a celebration.
Knobloch has been self-taught in photography since beginning with a basement darkroom in high school. At Upper Iowa University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree, he taught a hands-on photography course including photo composition and darkroom skills.

He remains active in photography with an interest in capturing expressions, playful situations and characters.

Some of my work is just to record fun events!  he said.

Knobloch has also branched into photo sandblasting and etching processes used in his business, Jamestown Bronze Works. He will include some bronze pieces in the Prendergast exhibit.

As a community volunteer, he has provided  behind the scenes  architectural elements for the Chautauqua County Arts Council and the Reg Lenna Civic Center, where he participated in the Buffalo Bill Cody billboard restoration project. He has also combined his talents in photography and bronze through his association with Dave Poulin s Arts Center.

Prendergast Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays; and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays.

The next library exhibitor will be photographer Jamie Quick.

The library is located at 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. For more information, call 484-7135, Ext. 225
