Business Organizations Endorse WCA Emergency Facility Project

The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier have announced their support for WCA’s efforts to construct a new Emergency Department. “This is a project that is important to the community and the future of WCA hospital,” stated Hans Auer, Chairman of the Chautauqua  County Chamber of Commerce. “The current emergency department is outdated and is not suited to meet the volume of patients coming through the door.” WCA is in the midst of a fundraising campaign to build a modern emergency department. The current department was built in the 1970’s to accommodate less than 10,000 annual patient visits. The proposed Emergency Department will be better able to accommodate the 36,000 plus visits the hospital emergency sees per year.

“Competitive health care is an important component of our local and regional economy and it is important that WCA stay on the cutting edge of customer care and technology and be a leader in these areas,” stated John Zabrodsky, President of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier. “A new emergency care facility at WCA will strengthen the services of the hospital, position it well for the future and better serve the needs of our community.”

“This is a needed step towards addressing an important quality of life issue in our community,” stated David Dawson, Immediate Past President of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier. “A state of the art emergency facility will be better positioned to meet the current health needs of the community. This facility opens the door to further efficiency gains and our hope is that it creates an opportunity to contain costs. We all know that going directly through an emergency room for care that can be addressed by a primary care physician is an expensive proposition, this facility will be positioned to address basic medical needs efficiently and cost effectively.”

The board of directors of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and the board of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier have endorsed the project.
