Children's Room To Offer Ukrainian Egg Craf |
| |
The Children's Room will offer a Ukrainian egg craft program for children at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Prendergast Library as part of The Big Read.
This year's novel, My Antonia by Willa Cather, is about a family from Eastern Europe moving to Nebraska for land and opportunity. Like other immigrant groups, they took their arts, crafts and traditions with them.
Learning about the painted Easter eggs, which are a symbol of Ukrainian culture, will be a way to involve young people in The Big Read, said Children's Librarian Valle Blair.
The craft event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 484-7135, Ext. 234.
