STATE COMPTROLLER DINAPOLI TO VISIT CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY
The Resource Center will host State Comptroller DiNapoli on Wednesday, February 24th at the TRC’s Conference Center, located within the agency’s Administrative Offices at 200 Dunham Avenue (the former Celoron school), from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m.

Government officials, educators, business owners, representatives of not-for-profit organizations, and the general public are invited to New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s presentation focusing on issues and trends impacting businesses and not-for-profits in Chautauqua County.  He will provide an update on the state’s budget crisis, share his perspective on regional economic trends and outline programs and services of his office including strategic investment programs, consumer-oriented initiatives and ways he has made his office more responsive to businesses and the not-for-profit sector.  DiNapoli will also highlight pertinent audits and reports, and will discuss reform measures that he is advancing.

After his speech, DiNapoli will answer questions from the audience.  Local attorney Gregory Peterson, president of the Robert H. Jackson Center, will be the moderator.

DiNapoli’s appearance is being sponsored by The Resource Center; TRC Foundation; Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.; the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce; the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency; the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County; and the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.

BUSINESS ASSISTANCE SEMINAR MARCH 2nd
The Chautauqua Job Service Employers Committee, Chautauqua Works and the New York State Department of Labor are presenting a program to alert businesses on assistance that is available, including the Southern Tier Incumbent Worker Training Grant, One Stop Center Programs, Shared Work Program, Unemployment Insurance Experience Rating Tax, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit and Unemployment Insurance – FAQ and Answers.

The session takes place at the Clarion Hotel – Jamestown, 150 West 4th Street, on Tuesday March 2nd. Registration begins at 11:30 and the program begins at noon. To register for this event contact Carolyn Bright at 851-2750 or e-mail usacgb@labor.state.ny.us.

LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST TO SHED LIGHT ON STATE BUDGET
The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce is providing its membership the opportunity to meet with legislative leaders and get insight into the budget discussions taking place in Albany.

On Friday, March 12, the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual State Legislative Breakfast focusing on state level issues of concern to Chautauqua County’s business community.  This event will be held at The Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, 433 East Terrace Avenue in Lakewood. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with the breakfast and presentation at 8:30 a.m. Cost to attend is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

Senator Cathy Young, Assemblyman Bill Parment and Assemblyman Joe Giglio will be in attendance to address questions and concerns. The focus of the discussion will be on the questions and topics submitted by the audience in advance or at the event.

MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION MEETING MARCH 10th
The annual meeting of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier is set for March 10th from 6-8pm at Moonbrook Country Club. This year’s annual meeting will feature a presentation on health insurance by Tim Godzich, Co-founder of Liazon Benefits Inc. Godzich will give a timely presentation on national reform, consumer driven health care and the new health insurance program of the Chamber of Commerce and Manufacturers Association.
