Money saving wedding planning tips

Planning a wedding during any economic climate is expensive, but it can get even more expensive during economic conditions like the current recession or if you reside in a big city where everything is more expensive all the time. But having a tight budget doesn’t mean you can’t have the perfect wedding or the wedding you’ve always dreamed of, it just means making some adjustments and rethinking what it really takes to have a perfect wedding. Consider the following:

Organize and restrain the wedding committee. Rarely are weddings planned exclusively by the bride and groom. Usually the wedding planning is done with the help of a lot of family members. As you begin to plan your wedding it’s important to get all the participants together to first discuss the budget and how that budget will be spent. It’s also a good idea for the bride or the groom to take control over the budget and to get the final word on spending. That will ensure that certain purchases don’t preclude the possibility of other purchases.

Decide what is important and what isn’t. You want a wedding cake, but do you need a $1000.00, triple level wedding cake? You want music at the reception but do you really need to hire a DJ for the night at a cost of around $1000.00 or would an iPod loaded with a set list do the job just as well?

What about the venue? Renting an old, luxurious mansion to hold your wedding reception is a wonderful idea, the only problem is it will cost a lot of money. Do you really need that location to have the perfect wedding? Most municipal parks rent pavilions for about $50.00 a day. Would that work just as well?

And what about the money you’re expecting the wedding party to shell out? Do the men all need to be in tuxedos or would dress suits work just as well? Do you really need to make the bridesmaids buy those awful, and expensive, bridesmaid’s dresses? There never going to wear them again. Couldn’t they have just worn nice dresses? Wouldn’t that have worked just as well?

You are probably starting to see that spending money doesn’t make the wedding perfect. If you are planning a wedding on a tight budget, you can have the perfect wedding if you focus on what is really important. You can have everything you want at your wedding, and you don’t have to spend a fortune to get it. You just have to plan smart.
