Planning a wedding can seem like an overwhelming task, particularly before you get going and you begin to realize how much there is to think about and do. But planning a wedding doesn’t have to be a difficult and daunting task, it can be the most rewarding thing you ever do, but planning is everything. So as you begin to plan your wedding, consider these few basic decisions you need to make, before everything else can be decided.
The first thing you really need to decide is exactly what kind of wedding do you want to have. Will it be a formal, black tie wedding, or will it be an informal, casual dress wedding? Why is this important to decide first? Because every decision you make after will be based on this decision.
The next thing you need to do is to decide on a budget and how much you have to spend on your wedding. This is also important to determine right away because it will also govern your choices as you really start to get into the details of the wedding planning.
Next you need to decide when you will have your wedding. Of course we all want to have our wedding when we know the weather will be nice, but you should consider off season times to have your wedding, particularly if you are on a tight budget. Having your wedding in the off season opens up a lot of venues and also drives your costs down, so the time of year is definitely something to consider.
Next you need to decide what you want the reception to be like. Obviously this decision will be in part based on whether you are having a formal or an informal wedding, but there are other factors like, will the reception be held outside or inside. How far away are you willing to travel to the reception? What time of day will it be held or will you have the reception at night.
Planning a wedding isn’t easy, but when you make the important decisions early, before you start planning, you will make the process a lot easier, and a lot less confusing because you’ll always know what it is you want and how much you have to spend to get it.
