Chic on the Cheap Weddings By: Linda Firster |

If you come from a family with a lot of money, how much you spend on your wedding probably isn’t a concern for you. You already know your wedding is going to be special and it’s going to be a chic, stylish event. But most of us don’t come from families with a lot of money and we want to have a chic wedding too. The only difference is, we have to be a little smarter about how we go about it, and get everything we can from every dollar we spend.
Consider the following tips:
Borrow what you can. If you spend time talking to your friends and family about what you need for your wedding it’s a good bet that be able to get a lot of what you need from borrowing. A great example is the wedding dress. Most wedding dresses are used for the wedding and then immediately cleaned and put into storage. Ask around and you’ll probably discover that someone you know has a beautiful dress in storage that you can use and that will require minimal tailoring and alterations.
The time of the year. Most weddings take place during the warm months of the year, but you can save a lot of money by having your wedding during the off season. All vendor prices go down during the off season. If you don’t care when your wedding is, consider the off season. It will still be beautiful, just a lot cheaper.
Trim the guest list. I guess everybody wants a big wedding, but when you really think about it; do you really need to invite people who are not your close friends or family members? Keeping your guest list down is the best way to reduce costs.
What venue? Just as everybody wants a big wedding, most couples already have an image of the perfect wedding venue. But by choosing less considered venues like public parks, you can save a lot of money. For example, a beautiful public park in my home town has three pavilions, which is enough space for about three hundred guests, and it rents for the day for about $150.00. The point is, if you get creative and really look around, you’ll find the perfect venue, without spending a lot of money.
These suggestions are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to saving money on your wedding. But I think the point is well made. Spend some time, get creative and you can have a chic wedding on the cheap.
